bet advert appeared on cricket game
A bet advert appeared during a cricket game on Sunday, and social media users were quick to point out that it was in breach of advertising regulations. The advert, for an online gambling company, was shown during the tea break of the One Day International (ODI) between England and Pakistan. The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) said that it had received "a number of complaints" about the advert and that it would be "assessing the complaints against our rules".It is understood that the advert was shown on Sky Sports, which is owned by the same company as the gambling website.A spokesman for the ASA said: "We're aware of the bet advert that appeared during the England v Pakistan ODI on Sunday and we're assessing the complaints against our rules."The Gambling Commission said that it was " liaising with the ASA to understand the facts".A spokesman for Sky Sports said: "We are sorry for any offence caused."The incident comes just days after the ASA warned gambling companies about using sports stars in their advertising. In a letter to the industry, the ASA said that it was "concerned" about the use of sports stars in gambling ads and that it would be "scrutinising" the practice. The letter said: "We are concerned that some gambling ads featuring sports stars or celebrities might be appealing to children and young people."We know that children and young people are attracted to sports and celebrities and might see them as role models."We also know that gambling ads that feature sports stars or celebrities are more likely to be recalled and liked by children and young people than those that don't."The ASA said that it would be "particularly concerned" about ads that featured sports stars or celebrities who were "popular with children and young people".It is not the first time that the ASA has warned gambling companies about their advertising. In 2017, the ASA banned an advert for a gambling website that featured the footballer Wayne Rooney. The advert showed Rooney holding a wad of cash with the caption: "I only play with the best. 18+, T&Cs Apply."The ASA said that the advert was "likely to be of particular appeal to children" and that it breached advertising rules.bet asia 365 cricket
